Hayat\u0131n\u0131n en k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck ayr\u0131nt\u0131s\u0131 bile y\u00fczlerce sayfal\u0131k romana, saatlerce s\u00fcrecek bir filme d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015febilecek kadar sars\u0131c\u0131 ve \u00e7arp\u0131c\u0131d\u0131r. Her \u015feyden \u00f6nce o, esaret ger\u00e7e\u011finin yak\u0131c\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 annesinin \u015fahs\u0131nda ya\u015fam\u0131\u015f ve i\u00e7selle\u015ftirmi\u015f bir bireydir. Tanzimat d\u00f6nemini \u00f6\u011frencilerime anlat\u0131rken yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131m genellemelerden biri \u015f\u00f6yledir: Annesi k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck ya\u015fta bir \u015fekilde Kafkasya\u2019dan geldi\u011fi i\u00e7in k\u00f6lelik kavram\u0131yla, dolay\u0131s\u0131yla esaret temi ve bunun z\u0131dd\u0131 olan h\u00fcrriyet d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcncesiyle erken ya\u015fta tan\u0131\u015fan ayd\u0131nlar! Kim bunlar, elbette Abd\u00fclhak Hamit, Ahmet Mithat Efendi ve Samipa\u015faz\u00e2de Sezai. \u00dczerinde onlarca kitap y\u00fczlerce yaz\u0131 yaz\u0131lan esaret teminin tarihsel ge\u00e7mi\u015fiyle sizi yoracak, b\u00fct\u00fcn sava\u015flar\u0131 ve \u00f6l\u00fcmleri me\u015frula\u015ft\u0131ran h\u00fcrriyet bahsiyle can\u0131n\u0131z\u0131 s\u0131kacak de\u011filim. B\u00f6yle bir giri\u015fi Hamit\u2019in d\u00f6neminde durdu\u011fu yeri size hissettirmek amac\u0131yla yapt\u0131m. Asl\u0131nda giri\u015f \u015f\u00f6yle de \u00f6zetlenebilirdi: Hamit ara\u015ft\u0131rmac\u0131lar\u0131n\u0131n i\u015fi kolayd\u0131r, \u00e7\u00fcnk\u00fc bu \u015fair kendisiyle ilgili merak etti\u011finiz bir\/her konuyu bazen bir anekdotla, bazen bir hat\u0131rayla, bazen bir n\u00fckteyle, bazen bir beyitle \u00f6zetler ve \u00f6n\u00fcn\u00fcze koyar. Mesela, annesiyle babas\u0131n\u0131n ge\u00e7mi\u015fini iki dizeye s\u0131\u011fd\u0131r\u0131r:<br \/>\n<em>Birinin n\u00e2m u \u015f\u00e2n\u0131 bir t\u00e2rih<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Birinin h\u00e2ned\u00e2n\u0131 efs\u00e2ne<\/em><br \/>\nHamit\u2019in baba taraf\u0131 yukar\u0131daki ilk m\u0131srada da vurguland\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u00fczere tarihe mal olmu\u015f, sayg\u0131n, bilinen insanlardan olu\u015fur. Dedesi Abd\u00fclhak Molla(1786-1853) sarayda hekimba\u015f\u0131d\u0131r. \u0130ran\u2019da b\u00fcy\u00fckel\u00e7i iken \u00f6len babas\u0131 Hayrullah Efendi(1820-1867) neredeyse bir aile gelene\u011fine d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015fen t\u0131p tahsilini tamamlam\u0131\u015f ve Mekteb-i T\u0131bbiye\u2019de derslere girmi\u015f, ama bunun yan\u0131 s\u0131ra tarih\u00e7ili\u011fe de ilgi duymu\u015f biridir.<br \/>\nAilenin Bebek\u2019teki yal\u0131s\u0131 zaman\u0131n\u0131n dillere destan mek\u00e2nlar\u0131ndand\u0131r. Hatta bu yal\u0131, II. Mahmut ile Abd\u00fclhak Molla aras\u0131nda ge\u00e7en bir hadiseye de zemin vazifesi g\u00f6rm\u00fc\u015ft\u00fcr:<br \/>\n\u201cII. Mahmut, bo\u011faz gezintilerinden bir ikisinde Abd\u00fclhak Molla\u2019n\u0131n yal\u0131s\u0131na da u\u011frad\u0131, g\u00f6n\u00fcl ald\u0131; hatta bir g\u00fcn ona:<br \/>\n-Cuma g\u00fcn\u00fc v\u00fckel\u00e2ya (Osmanl\u0131\u2019da, kabine \u00fcyeleri, vekiller, bakanlar) davet yap, ben ans\u0131z\u0131n bask\u0131n edece\u011fim, bakal\u0131m ne yapacaklar, demi\u015f.<br \/>\nG\u00fcn\u00fc gelince, yal\u0131n\u0131n bah\u00e7esinde ziyafet verilir. Misafirlerin tam \u00e7ak\u0131rkeyf olduklar\u0131 bir zamanda II. Mahmut da \u00fc\u00e7 \u00e7ifte ile kay\u0131khaneye yana\u015f\u0131r. V\u00fckel\u00e2, i\u00e7ki masas\u0131 \u00fczerinde yakalanmamak i\u00e7in tela\u015f g\u00f6sterirler. Abd\u00fclhak Molla da bah\u00e7enin k\u00f6\u015fesindeki k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck bir ah\u0131r\u0131n kap\u0131s\u0131n\u0131 a\u00e7arak:<br \/>\n-H\u00fcnk\u00e2r d\u00f6n\u00fcnceye kadar burada saklan\u0131n, demi\u015f ve hemen padi\u015fah\u0131n yan\u0131na gitmi\u015f.<br \/>\nII. Mahmut zaten bo\u015f sofran\u0131n ba\u015f\u0131na gelmi\u015f bulunur. Davetlilerin nerede olduklar\u0131n\u0131 Molla\u2019ya sorar. Abd\u00fclhak Molla da ko\u015fup ah\u0131r\u0131n kap\u0131s\u0131n\u0131 a\u00e7ar ve:<br \/>\n-H\u00fcnk\u00e2r\u0131m, i\u015fte v\u00fckel\u00e2n\u0131z burada, \u00e7\u0131ks\u0131nlar da g\u00f6r\u00fcn\u00fcz, der.\u201d (G\u00fcnd\u00fcz Ak\u0131nc\u0131, Abd\u00fclhak Hamit Tarhan Hayat\u0131, Eserleri ve Sanat\u0131, TDK Bas\u0131mevi, Ankara 1954, s. 4.)<br \/>\nMolla daha sonra torununa da ge\u00e7en bu patavats\u0131zl\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131n bedelini \u00e7ok a\u011f\u0131r \u00f6der. Ama hadise hem olu\u015f \u015fekli hem de i\u00e7inde bar\u0131nd\u0131rd\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u015fah\u0131s ve g\u00f6ndermelerle hem devri hem bug\u00fcn i\u00e7in ilgi \u00e7ekicidir.<br \/>\n\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Ya annesi M\u00fcnteh\u00e2 Nasib Han\u0131m?<br \/>\nHamit\u2019in annesi M\u00fcnteh\u00e2 Han\u0131m\u2019\u0131n hayat\u0131 tam bir bilinmezlikler kumkumas\u0131d\u0131r. \u015eair biraz da bu y\u00fczden \u201cValidem\u201d adl\u0131 \u015fiirinde bu \u00fcmmi k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck \u00e7erkezi \u201ctabiat\u0131n k\u0131z\u0131\u201d olarak niteler. Yak\u0131c\u0131 bir talihi vard\u0131r M\u00fcnteh\u00e2\u2019n\u0131n. Bu talih, Kafkasya\u2019dan ka\u00e7\u0131r\u0131lan bu k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck yavruyu, Hamitlerin \u00c7aml\u0131ca\u2019daki kap\u0131 kom\u015fular\u0131 Kad\u0131asker Ferit Efendilerin k\u00f6\u015fk\u00fcne cariye olarak d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcr\u00fcr. Fakat bu \u00e7ocuk hem g\u00fczeldir, hem zekidir, hem ak\u0131ll\u0131d\u0131r hem de \u00e7ok sevimlidir. \u00c7ocu\u011fu olmayan Ferit Efendi bu yavruyu evlat edinmekte gecikmez. Daha sonra bu \u00e7ocuk b\u00fcy\u00fcr ve kom\u015fular\u0131n\u0131n o\u011flu Hayrullah Efendi\u2019ye e\u015f olur. Esaretten h\u00fcrriyete ge\u00e7i\u015f bu kadarla da kalmaz. Kader ona devrinin en \u00f6nemli \u015fairlerinden\/yazarlar\u0131ndan birinin annesi olma f\u0131rsat\u0131n\u0131 da bah\u015feder. B\u00f6yle bir kona\u011fa gelin olmak M\u00fcnteh\u00e2 i\u00e7in ne kadar b\u00fcy\u00fck bir talihse b\u00f6yle bir anneye sahip olmak Hamit\u2019in i\u00e7in de o denli b\u00fcy\u00fck bir ganimettir. Zira annenin ya\u015fad\u0131klar\u0131 ve bu ya\u015fad\u0131klar\u0131ndan \u00e7ocuklar\u0131yla payla\u015ft\u0131klar\u0131, \u00f6zellikle Hamit\u2019in daha sonra yazacaklar\u0131n\u0131n ilham kayna\u011f\u0131 olacakt\u0131r. (G\u00fcnd\u00fcz Ak\u0131nc\u0131, s. 7.; \u0130nci Engin\u00fcn, Abd\u00fclhak Hamit Tarhan, K\u00fclt\u00fcr ve Turizm Bakanl\u0131\u011f\u0131 Yay\u0131nlar\u0131, Ankara 1986, s. 96 s.)<br \/>\n\u2026<br \/>\nYukar\u0131da, Hamit\u2019in hayat\u0131ndaki k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck ya\u015fanm\u0131\u015fl\u0131klar\u0131n y\u00fczlerce sayfal\u0131k romanlara, saatlerce s\u00fcrecek filmlere konu olabilece\u011fini s\u00f6ylemi\u015ftik, \u015fimdi bu s\u00f6ylediklerimize birka\u00e7 \u00f6rnek daha verme zaman\u0131.<br \/>\nModern e\u011fitim kurumlar\u0131 hen\u00fcz tam olarak yayg\u0131nla\u015fmad\u0131\u011f\u0131 i\u00e7in Tanzimat d\u00f6nemi aileleri \u00e7ocuklar\u0131n\u0131n yeti\u015fmesinde usta-\u00e7\u0131rak ili\u015fkisine ba\u015fvurmak zorunda kal\u0131yorlard\u0131. Evliya Hoca, Hoca Bahaeddin Efendi ve Hoca Tahsin Efendi k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck Hamit\u2019e biraz \u00f6nce k\u0131saca de\u011findi\u011fimiz yal\u0131da \u00f6zel ders veren o d\u00f6nem m\u00fcnevverlerinden birka\u00e7\u0131 idi. Bunlar i\u00e7inde Hoca Tahsin Efendi(1813-1881) Hamit\u2019i sanki biraz daha fazla sevmi\u015f ve etkilemi\u015fti. Yeni Osmanl\u0131lar Cemiyeti\u2019ne girdi\u011fi de rivayet edilen bu \u015fah\u0131s aruz vezniyle Frans\u0131zca \u015fiirler yazmay\u0131 deneyecek kadar farkl\u0131 bir simayd\u0131. T\u00fcrk k\u00fclt\u00fcr tarihinde felsefe ve psikoloji bilimleriyle ilk defa ilgilenen ayd\u0131nlar\u0131n ba\u015f\u0131nda gelen bu \u015fahs\u0131n, ki Hamit\u2019in felsefeye duydu\u011fu ilginin arkas\u0131nda da bu m\u00fcnevver vard\u0131r, Hamit\u2019in beynine kelime kelime nak\u015fetti\u011fi bir beyit vard\u0131. Bu beyit o d\u00f6nem ayd\u0131nlar\u0131n\u0131n Avrupa\u2019ya bak\u0131\u015f\u0131n\u0131 \u00f6zetlemesi bak\u0131m\u0131ndan da \u00f6nemliydi:<br \/>\n<em>Paris\u2019e git bir g\u00fcn evvel, akl-u fikrin var ise<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00c2leme gelmi\u015f say\u0131lmaz gitmeyenler Paris\u2019e.<\/em><br \/>\n(Ger\u00e7i, Be\u015fir Ayvazo\u011flu bu dizeleri Hamit\u2019in a\u011fabeyi Nasuhi Bey\u2019e mal eder, ama biz bu konunun sarahate kavu\u015fmas\u0131n\u0131 Hamit uzmanlar\u0131na b\u0131rakal\u0131m.) (Bu iki \u00e7ocu\u011fun babalar\u0131 Hayrullah Bey\u2019in, Hamit onlu, Nasuhi yirmili ya\u015flardayken Maarif Nezareti ad\u0131na Paris\u2019te g\u00f6revli olarak bulundu\u011funu burada hat\u0131rlatmakta yarar var.) Beraberlerinde Hoca Tahsin Efendi ile Lala \u00d6mer A\u011fa da vard\u0131r. Bu d\u00f6rtl\u00fcn\u00fcn Paris\u2019e giderken, (bir Yunanistan kasabas\u0131 olan) Pire\u2019deki zor \u015fartlar\u0131 atlatt\u0131ktan sonra, (bir \u0130talyan kenti olan) Mesina\u2019ya varmalar\u0131 ile burada ya\u015fad\u0131klar\u0131n\u0131 Hamit\u2019in kendi a\u011fz\u0131ndan dinleyelim:\u00a0\u201cPire\u2019den tugy\u00e2n ve tufanlar\u0131 a\u015farak Mesina\u2019ya geldi\u011fimizde biraderimin asker k\u0131yafetinde k\u0131l\u0131\u00e7l\u0131 ve Hoca Tahsin\u2019in kisve-i ilmiyyede sar\u0131kl\u0131 olarak vapurdan \u00e7\u0131k\u0131p ma\u00eeyyetlerinde k\u0131rm\u0131z\u0131 fesli bir \u00e7ocuk ve onun lalas\u0131 bir ba\u015f\u0131bozuk bulundu\u011fu h\u00e2lde Mesina sokaklar\u0131nda dola\u015ft\u0131klar\u0131 ve oran\u0131n yerlisi, bir\u00e7ok mahalle \u00e7ocuklar\u0131n\u0131n etraf\u0131m\u0131z\u0131 alm\u0131\u015f olduklar\u0131 h\u00e2t\u0131r\u0131mda olup, Mesina\u2019da ilk defa tatt\u0131\u011f\u0131m \u2018frenk inciri\u2019 denilen meyvan\u0131n tad\u0131 ise bir\u00e7ok yemi\u015flerin h\u00e2t\u0131rat\u0131yla beraber \u00e7ocukluktan sonra da dima\u011fda kalm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Mesina\u2019dan Napoli\u2019ye m\u00fcteveccihen hareketimizde havan\u0131n y\u00fcz\u00fc g\u00fclm\u00fc\u015f ve denizin titizli\u011fi ge\u00e7mi\u015fti. Napoli\u2019ye takarr\u00fcb etti\u011fimiz s\u0131radayd\u0131 ki \u00f6mr\u00fcmde, o zamanki on senelik \u00f6mr\u00fcmde g\u00f6rmedi\u011fim bir manzara peyda oldu. Lalam \u2018Bu bir Orman yang\u0131n\u0131 olmal\u0131.\u2019 dedi. Bir da\u011f\u0131n tepesinden alevli bir duman \u00e7\u0131k\u0131yordu. Hoca Tahsin Efendi bu suale cevaben \u2018Cehennemin de, cennetin de topra\u011f\u0131n alt\u0131nda bulundu\u011funu iddia etmekle\u2019, \u2018Cenneti ne vakit ve nerede g\u00f6rece\u011fiz?\u2019 yolundaki sualime de \u2018Paris\u2019e vard\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z zaman orada g\u00f6rece\u011fiz.\u2019 cevab\u0131n\u0131 vermi\u015f ve:<br \/>\nParis\u2019e git bir g\u00fcn evvel, akl-u fikrin var ise<br \/>\n\u00c2leme gelmi\u015f say\u0131lmaz gitmeyenler Paris\u2019e.<br \/>\ndemi\u015fti. Bu film sahnesinde veya roman betimlemesinde farkl\u0131 toplumsal s\u0131n\u0131flara mensup bir insan toplulu\u011fu ile y\u00fcz y\u00fczeyiz. Bunlar\u0131n her \u015feyden \u00f6nce giyimleri birbirlerinden ayr\u0131. On bir ya\u015f\u0131ndaki k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck \u00e7ocuk Hamit, k\u0131rm\u0131z\u0131 bir fes takm\u0131\u015f. Yirmi alt\u0131 ya\u015f\u0131ndaki askeri okul \u00f6\u011frencisi Nasuhi Bey, i\u00e7inde k\u0131l\u0131c\u0131n da bulundu\u011fu askeri bir k\u0131yafet giymi\u015f. \u0130lmiye s\u0131n\u0131f\u0131na mensup Tahsin Efendi sar\u0131k takm\u0131\u015f. Lala ba\u015f\u0131bozuk, herhangi bir toplumsal s\u0131n\u0131fa ait oldu\u011funu g\u00f6sterecek bir k\u0131yafet i\u00e7inde de\u011fil, yani bug\u00fcnk\u00fc kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131yla sivil.<br \/>\nMesina sokaklar\u0131na g\u00f6lgesi d\u00fc\u015fen bu renk ve k\u0131yafet karnaval\u0131 en \u00e7ok da \u00e7ocuklar\u0131n dikkatini \u00e7ekiyor. Bu insanlar\u0131n zihin d\u00fcnyalar\u0131, alg\u0131lar\u0131; ald\u0131klar\u0131 e\u011fitime, ya\u015fam tarzlar\u0131na, d\u00fcnya g\u00f6r\u00fc\u015flerine de \u0131\u015f\u0131k tutuyor. Bu yorumu, ans\u0131z\u0131n g\u00f6rd\u00fckleri yanarda\u011fa y\u00fckledikleri anlamlardan \u00e7\u0131karabiliyoruz.<br \/>\nLala tipik bir halk adam\u0131, da\u011f ve ate\u015f onun akl\u0131na hemen ve sadece yang\u0131n kavram\u0131n\u0131 getiriyor. O \u00e7\u0131plak g\u00f6zle g\u00f6rd\u00fc\u011f\u00fcn\u00fc s\u00f6yl\u00fcyor. Tahsin Efendi d\u00f6neminin modern ve maddeci ayd\u0131nlar\u0131ndan biri oldu\u011fu halde manzaray\u0131 \u00f6nce klasik bir yakla\u015f\u0131mla yorumluyor, fakat daha sonra yan\u0131ndaki k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck \u00e7ocu\u011fun k\u0131\u015fk\u0131rt\u0131c\u0131 sorusuyla g\u00f6rd\u00fc\u011f\u00fc cehennemden, hayalindeki cennete do\u011fru yolculu\u011fa \u00e7\u0131k\u0131yor. \u00c7ocuk biraz da merak demek. Hamit, bu \u00e7er\u00e7eveye yak\u0131\u015facak bir foto\u011fraf veriyor. Bu d\u00f6rtl\u00fc foto\u011frafta fark yaratan tek insan Nasuhi Bey. \u0130lmiye s\u0131n\u0131f\u0131ndan seyfiye s\u0131n\u0131f\u0131na ge\u00e7erek sonraki e\u011fitimini burada s\u00fcrd\u00fcren Nasuhi Bey, bakt\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 do\u011fru g\u00f6r\u00fcyor, bununla da yetinmeyerek s\u00f6ylediklerini bir sonraki duraklar\u0131 olan yanarda\u011f art\u0131\u011f\u0131 bir \u015fehirde (Pompei) somutla\u015ft\u0131r\u0131yor.
